REMAINS: Remnants of an Old Store and the Cemetary
The factories were burned at Bankston After Midnight, Friday, Dec 30, 1864. The burning was done by the Union Army. It was a target because it was making supplies for the confederate army. It was burned without a shot fired or the loss of man. 11 of the raiders spent the remainder of the night at the Bankston Hotel. This is according to Choctaw County Chronicles written by J.P. Coleman. There isn't much there now. The old Bankston cemetary is there but nothing but forest where the factories use to be. Submitted by: Thomas Carraway
