COMMENTS:
Lookout is located on a mountain
top on the west side of the Panamint valley. It consists of mostly
foundations but a few buildings still have the walls standing.
It is definitely for the purist only. It takes a 4 wheel drive
vehicle to reach the site. Great view from the top. REMAINS: Foundations and a few walls |
The camp of Lookout was founded in 1875. A pack trail connected it with the neighboring Modoc and Minnietta mines. The Modoc was owned by senator George Hearst, father of William Randolph Hurst.
