Meesville got is name from James Mee, the discoverer of the Tuscombia mine. He operated a mill here and processed $200,000 of other peoples gold. The town also served as a stage stop for the Prescott-Alexandra road and a post office. Then around the turn of the century when mining activity rose again, the buildings were picked up and moved to nearby Hooper mining camp on the Prescott-Crown King Senator highway. Today, nothing remains. |
